My main job/hobby is my 3 kids, whom I enjoy greatly. My other hobbies are coonhounds and chickens/turkeys, which don't always work out the best, as we all know coonhounds like chicken every so often. I'm in a conslaldation phase right now, so some hobbies may disapper in time, but not the kids of course, LOL.

Rock hounding and mineral collecting among other things, though I haven't had time or incentive in recent years to do much of it. I enjoy a lot of things, I like Michael's response- I wouldn't know where to start.

my other interest beyond beekeeping (excluding my wife and dog for sure) are making bee equipment and assempling bee equipment. I do these 'other' things just to keep me well rounded.

all yes I do enjoy reading a well written book; typically history, econmic history or a bit of fiction from time to time. although at times, it is quite difficult to tell the last from the first two.

"Hey Peggjam

We have Blueticks ane black and tans. We show at some of the local shows about two weeks a mounth. Not much time for anything more. We are hoping to get one to hunt compitition with, as we have 4 prospect hounds coming up. They take alot of time and effort, but there's nothing like the baying of a hound on track at 1am in the morning, on a rainy night, after being stung 20-30 times by the "girls", and generally feeling under appreatited by everyone, and thing involed.

Gardening is my passion, perennial gardens, vegetables, herbs, rhododendrons, woodland wildflowers, etc. I'm happiest with my fingers in the dirt! I'm an amateur naturalist, too, and along with my hubby we also enjoy bird watching, hiking, nature observation, shooting (he likes to hunt), just plain being outdoors.

Congrats on the finished dog, what dreams are made of!!! Most of my B&T's go back to Setum up Ace. I sure hope one of these dogs turn out to be a true COONDAWG!! smile.gif Ya between the bees the kids, the dogs, the chicken/turkey/guinias, I have my hands full. But it's fun ;) .

Because I keep bees I don't have any money to enjoy the things I love. tongue.gif Sorry, Woodchopper.
Seriously, I enjoy hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, horseback riding, etc. Of course since I started beekeeping, everything else seems to have taken a backseat. :D

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about my other hobbies:

Drinking, gambling, fighting, robbery, late nights just tinkering around in my meth lab, ripping all the tags off mattresses at the store, jaywalking, graverobbing, prank phone calling, impersonating police officers, stalking, panhandling, streaking, and making homemade explosives that I can only tell the voices in my head the reason for.

In no particular order:

Astronomy - no "go-to" scopes for me. Manual 10" Newtonian Reflector. May get a Dobson.

Sprinkler maintenance. My wife has over 1,000 different kinds of plants around here. We have 40+ sprinkler zones that run almost 24/7. To her, it's a botanical garden, to me it's work.

Watercolor painting. Winsor Newton Man.

Music. Playing, listening, audio equipment.

Portrait drawing - pencil.

Reading anything that has to do with Einstein/Relativity, Green/String Theory, Hawking/Black Holes, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Faraday, Oprah. Kidding...just kidding on that last one.

Photography and home movies. Photoshop & Adobe Premier. Double-layer Blu-Ray? Soon...I hope.

Western Bluebird sanctuary. They're dissappearing! Someone's gotta save 'em.

Fudgesicles.

Gardening, travel, reading, my cat, my husband, painting, pique assiette. Gardening led me to bees. Perennials, vegetables, roses, containers . . .

Soapmaking, along with making other bath & body stuff. Want to start making candles.
No coonhounds, but I used to field trial a bit with beagles. Dabbled with agility and obedience competition. (Yeah, with beagles. Obviously, I have perseverance.)
Chickens and turkeys.
Gardening & cooking.
I assemble my own bee equipment, but I don't think its 'fun' enough to be a hobby.

Besides playing with bees? I fix mechanical pocketwatches and sell my own wristwatches. I also collect pocketwatchs. Herd around my four cats. Yardwork, Yardwork, Yardwork. I used to be a good enologist but I had to give it up for some serenity. Poking around the web. Playing the Everquest type games. Used to Mud. Used to play a card game called "Magic the Gathering" and ran a website called "The Magic Dojo". Play just about any card game that is mentioned in Hoyle. Collect books on Chess and now Bees. And then there's golf... when that bug hits I'm out hitting balls for a couple weeks. Retired army, CW3 MI. Call other rtd. friends and talk about how things are FUBAR or their grandchildren. Travel once a year to NYC to go to a show, go to a jazz club, shop, rubber-neck and pay our respects.

I like to garden, we will have about 6,000 strawberry plants for next Spring, we have people come and pick their own fruit and veggies.
Chickens we have a little over 300, yep we sell eggs also. I have been thinking about selling fryers. To get around the food handling laws you have to sell the chickens live then help the buyer process them.
I have a great entertainment system cost me about $7,000. I love the 70's music and movies, mine sounds as good as most theaters and better.
I like to read the Bible and study it and talk to others about it, not debate it though.
