Careful what you say in public about Republicans, they might take you out bird hunting.

Be careful about inviting a Democrate out bird hunting. They just might call the sheriff and compain that you own a gun.

ACLU, PETA, and hoards of lawyers are flocking to the shooting victim. (Well, maybe not peta, they are searching for the bird to make sure its not injured) Democrate conspiracies are being formulated to blame the President. Who knew what, when did they know it, what was the cause for delay in medical treatment, where was the spaceship, and was the land being hunted on connected to big oil? Why was there not equal representation of the blacks and minorities in the victim percentages?
This would not of happened if Mother Sheehan would of been present. Where were those pot-banging anti-hunting rejects from the 60's? Someone's to blame! Someone was not doing theer job. And we certainly hold nobody else accountable for thier actions(except the Pres, he's responsible for piece of everything), so why should we blame Cheney. He is a victim. I demand the answers........

Did ya happen to notice that he was smiling for the camera`s ...Ever tho he had just sprayed his hunting pal with a shot gun ?
I have hunted a good number of years but cant remember the last time I sprayed anything with a 12 guage .
Lets hope he dont get too close to the RED (nuc) button and launch an attack on Canada .

Just another example of the growing gap between the haves and the have-nots. I pay for my hunting licence, trudge through miles of backcountry, and I'm lucky if I get to shoot a single deer or elk. Then it's up to me to dress the carcass and pack it out.
The rich and powerful get ecorted out to a fancy private reserve by an entourage of attentants, and they get to shoot REPUBLICAN LAWYERS. The disparity is an outrage in a supposedly democratic and just society. Where's the equity? Where's fairness?
What's the daily bag limit on those things, by the way?

None of you understand the situation. He was hunting quayle, er, quail, not pheasant. His aids said that one was named Dan. Again, bad info from intelligence gatherers.

Who said we were intelligent?
Oh! You were talking about Cheney's AIDS?
Don't you think that Cheney aught to give up hunting, at least until he is out of office? The last time he was out hunting, that we heard about, he bagged a Supreme Court Judge and now this?
Coyote, It's a republic we live in. As a while ago, don't ask me to tell you the difference or remember the difference, if I heard it before.

I wish this was an exageration. Unfortunately it's not. They are already doing this.
>they get to shoot REPUBLICAN LAWYERS. The disparity is an outrage in a supposedly democratic and just society. Where's the equity? Where's fairness?
It does seem pretty unfair.
>What's the daily bag limit on those things, by the way?
I think it's one a day and there is a size restriction. ;)
{Someone's to blame! }
Why that's an easy one, it's the gun manufacturer.
Could someone please call CNN and tell them it was birdshot not buckshot for crying out loud!!

Ok, lets get the obvious lines out of the way in one go...
Cheney, shooting at Quale in the Bush, hits another guy
by mistake, and will never be allowed to Kerry a gun again.
But were lawyers in season last weekend?
"Quail? No, we were shooting peasants... I mean PHEASANTS!"
That's what happens to those who don't give ENOUGH to the Republican party.
What do you call it when Cheney shoots a republican lawyer?
A "good start", and a "major change of heart for Cheney"!
As Steven Tyler sang: "Cheney's Got A Gun..."
In Henry VI, the character that says "First thing we do, let's
kill all the lawyers" is named "Dick The Butcher". Coincidence?
You decide. (The burdens of a classical education... sheesh)
Antonin Scalia voted a certain way after a hunting trip with Cheney,
somehow I see a pattern here...
An Eric Clapton and Bob Marley duet:
"I shot the lawyer... but I did not shoot the deputy..."
Don't ever ride in a car with the VP.
When he calls "Shotgun",he REALLY MEANS "Shotgun"!
If Cheney wouldn't have applied for all those bogus
deferments during the Viet Nam war, maybe he would have
learned how to shoot!
Cheney's statement: "Mistakes were made, the intelligence
we were given by the CIA about the location of the quail
was faulty..."
If this had been Kerry hunting, it would have been MUCH
more than an "accident", fer sure.
The basic problem was that the hunting vests were purchased
at.... (wait for it).... Target!
Cheney has set aside the 28-gauge shotgun, and invited
Hillary to go big-game hunting with elephant guns.
Next week, it'll be revealed that the lawyer was actually
Al Qaeda's Second-in-Command...
Marines change training to "This is my rifle, and this is Dick".
And, last, but certainly the best....
At LAST! Dick Cheney finds a weapon of mass destruction!
Hillside

I'm laughing so hard my wife thinks I'm having a siezure.

I'd consider it a fine choice for quail,
as one wants a quail that one can EAT,
and all the shot from a larger shell
would either disintegrate the bird, or
make it a "50% metal meal".

We should all be applauding Cheney for not having the proper stamp on his license. From the movie Blazing Saddles, I hear the comment "Passes, we don't need no stinking passes!".
This was a great moment for all libertarians and those who want the goverment to stay out of private lives. For those who believe in no registration of beehives, for those who believe no registration for guns, for those who beleive we all should have the right to do what we want with no interference in our day to day lives,....A big thank you goes out to Cheney. He was on private property! How dare the goverment suggest he pay for his right to hunt, carry a firearm, and feed his family. I expect to see many from this board come to his defense. ;)

well given that mr cheneys golden parachute from haliburton has ballooned at the rate of $20000 per week (every week) since the beginning of the iraq'ee war, I really suspect that mr cheney don't really need to hunt to feed his family.
once again this type of selective non complinance with the law make a mockery of anyone's belief that we are a nation of laws and not of men. evidently some pigs are more equal than others.

What else is anyone supposed to do with knowledge of this occurance, other than perhaps to say, it's only a story because of who was involved. If it had been you and me, no one would be talking about it here or in the national media.
Was it really necessary for the lawyer dude to be in intensive care? Or was it who he was and the rest of the circumstances? Who's paying the bills? Cheney's insurance? The hunting club, or whatever they were, their insurance? The lawyers insurance? Do I really care? No. I've more important things to worry about.

Wow. A windfall for the local Department of Parks and Wildlife. I guess they will confiscate six or seven black SUVs, several shotguns, a bunch of cell phones and Blackberries, and who knows what else.
Is Dick's airplane considered part of his hunting equipment? The Parks and Wildlife folks can probably use another airplane.

Ah Yes. The disguised humor ploy. Almost forgot that some use this technique. Degrade or somehow attack another with the ploy and cover of a song, book, or some published work. Brings back the found memories of the "slob" reference. I really should use it more. But I would rather just be up-front and leave the second grade tactics and name calling to others.

Yeah, read 'em and weep. Cheney ridiculed Kerry
for going hunting and actually bagging some
wild game, He got 4 geese. Wild geese. Flying.
So, making a little fun of Cheney when he goes
"hunting" farm-raised quail released from cages
right smack dab in front of him, and "bags" his
fellow hunter rather than the quail seems to
be MORE than "fair".
Please recall that this is the same Cheney
who, along with another group of hunting buddies,
including Supreme Court Justice Scalia,
slaughtered 400 captive pheasants and
nearly as many ducks at a western Pennsylvania shooting preserve in 2004.
Cheney? A hunter? A sportsman? That's a laugh.

Ha!
Of course this wouldn't have happened to Kerry...he was sitting in the little shanty they had set up sipping is Perrier sparkling water while the others were out trying to shoot the geese (or letting them go and shooting them). Wipe some blood on his hand, call the press, walk out, viola!
Hunting accidents are so rare it is shocking that this would happen to someone so famous.
Hence the term "duck" meaning to lower your head when a bird is spotted.....maybe this doesn't apply to quail?
Besides, he didn't shoot his fellow, he "peppered" him :D

I stayed out of this thread to see how it would develop. True to form, the first ones to respond were the "libertarians" howling about how the liberals were going to start howling. The liberals will make up conspiracy theories, the DNR will confiscate all that private prop-a-tee, etc etc. Reality check. The punishment was a verbal warning and a few well-placed jokes.
Personally, I'm not in favor of severe gun control anymore, but I do think that if you are so incompetent as to accidentally shoot another human, you should at the very least not be able to renew your hunting licence. If that fellow dies, I wonder if Cheney is up for manslaughter. Does anyone know how these hunting accident cases go?
George Fergusson
02-14-2006, 02:45 PM
Should be funny. It ain't really. The Vice President of the United States goes bird hunting and ends up shooting a hunting companion. Sure, I laughed like everyone else, now they're saying on the news that the poor bugger has in fact suffered a heart attack and that he apparently has some shot lodged near his heart. I've shot partridge and had #6 shot go right through them, it's not too hard for me to imagine shot slipping in between the guy's ribs. Hard to say what's reality with all the hemming and hawing going on.
>Hunting accidents are so rare it is shocking that this would happen to someone so famous.
I suppose. Seems like 2-3 people get killed every year here in Maine.

Jim,
It always amazes me that when your boasting, being pompous, or trying to impress others with long explanations, everything is with "I" or "me". But when you attack, belittle or somehow want to rub someone, you switch to "we".
>we're all still waiting to see some.
I have always seen this as a weakness and a lack of self-confidence. Perhaps its just "me". Care to explain who you are speaking for? Or shall I continue with the analysis on the matter?
I see now how you back off a conversation, and wait for another to pick up your slack, and then come back from a different angle. Real impressive. I'll leave this as just a comment. "I" don't want to over analyze things....

Santa, The last time I commented on achievements from my past, like if I was to mention of my many markmanship awards in the military, someone questioned my integrity and truthfulness. So for actual shooting, yes. VP could not shine my boots.
As for shooting here on beesource, the actual answer is no. I score a bullseye everytime in my mind, but I am sure based on past comments, that others do not see the "hit". That is what makes it fun. Some get it, some don't. Its usually the ones that don't get it that get all in a tizzy and get upset.
I come here to have fun. Why else would I? If I came to try to change the world and make political points, it would be a waste. There are other more productive ways to do that. I don't expect anyone to respect my position any more than I respect theirs. Now, where were we.....

For the record, BjornBee, I have never and will never cast aspersions on your marksmanship with a gun. I do remember those posts of the past. I have too little experience handling guns other than bb guns as a kid to give judgements like that without good reason. VP Cheney on the other hand has given me good reason to laugh at his abilities with one, if one can laugh at such a tragedy.
As to your marksmanship regarding politics, well, we have actually agreed on some things in the past, but I'm sure we both think of each others' posts as mainly off the mark. That said, I agree with you that this is an exercise mainly for all of our mutual entertainment and I'm not worried about convincing anyone on this site of the validity of my convictions. Of course if everyone wanted to take what I write as pearls of wisdom wouldn't this world be a better place? tongue.gif
