If you don't like it you could always turn it into a floating beeyard http://www.beesource.com/ubb/smile.gif

Interesting thought, I have a friend that wants to put a beeyard on a boat, then follow the spring flow all the way up the Mississippi, then turn around and follow the goldenrod back down.

Mark,

Can't say that I own a pontoon, but I've been around enough boats including pontoons I can give my two cents.

Any boat is a money trap as you already know and a pontoon is no different. Fishing boats are easier and cheaper to store (in general) Your two wheel drive 1/2 ton is probably fine for a typical fishing boat, but up-grade to a large pontoon you might be in trouble on the ramp with wet tires. If you do any sking you'll probably need 60-80 H.P. that adds up to some $$

Here's a few pro's I can think of: You don't really have to worry about wiping down one when you're done, easier to carpet and room for all of the girls on the beach...

Pontoon Boats have come a long way, You can get a floating cabin nowadays, complete with changing room and generator. Have not owned one, but my sis used to work assembly for Premiere Marine here in Wyoming MN. If I were going to get one, it would be a triple tube, with the drive on trailer if you can get it, and rig it for fishing and skiing. Probably live wells on both ends.

If it were me, and I wanted a wide flat boat, I would go for a fiberglass deck boat instead of the pontoon. They seem to be built better and have a better ride. The biggest drawback is that they require a higher horsepower motor. The pontoons can also be a pita to land on a trailer if you are not keeping it in a marina year-round.
