I just raised some queen cells by a Miller/Hopkins adaptation...worker pretty well, but a bit messy dividing them up into my three nucs for them to emerge in a day or two.
Still, I have so far, only one emerge...I think due to the cold weather...surprised ANY emerged, really.
BUT, this one looks more like a worker than a queen...abdomen only slightly longer, and more pointed...is this because she is not bred yet? REally the only way I found her is that she waddles around differently than the workers...
Thanks for any/all advice!

She will fatten up when she starts to lay. I wouldn't go poking around in the hives looking for virgins, it is better to wait until she should be laying to see if you have a queen- otherwise, the bees have a tendancy to blame all intrusions/problems on the virgin and could ball her.
