Hopkins Method of Queen Rearing

Hello to all beekeepers smile.gif
I'm going to try the raise few queens for my own use with the "Hopkins way". I thing I understand what must be done but I have a question:
- what happend to the eggs and larva on the top of the comb? Will the bee take care of them?
Or they will eat the eggs?

I'd set it up so they don't have access to the top, but if they do I'm sure they won't raise them.
