in this video the lady is using a thin squar like cage the size of a playing card with a end that seems to hinge open for removel of the queen take a look at the clip
im looking for this cage if any one might know of where to look or where i can get them i whont them

I too think that is a homemade item as the need for such a cage is limited. I loved the clip BTW.

great clip. My bees are not quite that gentle. Can't imagine shaking and brushing with that amount of vigor.

Vigor is the only way to shake and brush. Gentle is counterproductive and angers the bees more.

I'll have to come back to the clip later; has it been posted to the 'mite video' thread at the top of the diseases and pests board? That's becoming a good collection of videos across the spectrum, but I need to go through it and try to sort out what's what.
Always brush with vigour, if you don't knock them right off they get upset. Shaking's more versatile; depending on how hard you shake, you can shake bees of different ages as the younger bees hand on tighter.
