Mating nucs

Prices of queens are quickly approaching my personal "I ain't gonna pay $X.XX for a queen", so I decided to raise them myself.
Over the years I've made queens using 9 frames from a strong hive by putting some frames aside in a nuc box. But now I'd like to make something up so I don't have to keep suffling these large frames.

Does any one have a set of plans for mating nucs?
IÂ’m looking for over-all frame length, height, number per box set of plans.

Mini nucs? I made two frame medium depth nucs for mine. They take standard medium frames. Betterbee sells two frame deeps that look like they would work well if you run deeps for brood.
