I made a few splits 3 weeks ago to prevent swarming, so far so good! Except one appears to have become a laying worker hive. Has anyone tried to use the newspaper method of hive combing with a queenright hive to get rid of the laying worker?
I think it should work, when done with 2 queenright hives the better queen wins and all are saved! I'd hate to try it and be wrong(I'd loss 2 hives)!
Anyone out there tried this possible solution?

I always immediately add any queenless/drone-laying worker hives to other VERY STRONG hives using the newspaper method. Later on if you want to start a nuc to replace the lost hive it is best to use frames of bees and brood from a queen-right hive.

You asked this on the Beekeeping 101 and I ansered there, but I'll say it again.

I've seen this succeed and I've heard of it failing. You pay your money and you take your chances. I would do the combine myself, but I know lots of experienced beekeepers who would say you should do a shakedown.
