Was looking for the queen when I saw this little spot moving across some sealed brood. Now at 48 my eyes are not what they used to be. First thing I thought was *?#@% small hive beetle. I then noticed that it wasnÂ’t quick enough and it was reddish. Could it be I thought? I looked closer and sure enough it was a varroa mite moving across sealed brood looking for some place to nest. I guess there is a first time for everything.
