I pulled 2 deeps here in the fall and put them in a closet. It seems moth larvae have invaded the unfilled portions of the comb, making a real mess.

Is there anyway to dispose of them without cutting those parts of the comb out prior to extraction? I was hoping to scrape these two sets of frames and put them back in my hives next season, as my honey yield went WAY up as a result of putting frames in my hives that already had built out comb in them.

Scott, unless there is quite a bit it won't effect the finsihed product much. If there is considerable feces I would scrape that out. Everything else (larve and such) will be removed in the straining process.

You could freeze the frames. Then extract when the honey warms back up. At least you would only be dealing with dead worms.

I know they add worms to tequila, so why not honey. You could start a new trend and marketing rage. Honey for carbs, and worms for protein. Sounds about right.
