I have used fluvalanate in the past for varroa in liquid form called Maverick. It's used for killing mites on cows, ect. But I heard they stopped making it. Does anyone know where I can order a case?

Apistan strips are Fluvalinate.

Fluvalinate (for crops/liquid) is a restricted use pesticide and requires the user to be certified to buy or use it. To use it "off label" as you suggest is illegal and carries a nasty fine.

Keep in mind also that it is becoming more and more ineffective due to resistance.

The apistan,Does not contain as much as the maverick.
Another product called tac-tick,is about the same as maverick, atleast that is what I was told.I have not seen it to read the label.

Apistan is specifically made and registered for use as a miteacide for honeybees.

The others simply are not, and are illegal to use as you intend. Not to mention dangerous to the bees if overdosed.

Why not use Apistan if you are looking for fluvalinate?? Cheaper??

Not only illegal, but using Mavrik and the like for treating mites has possibly contributed to varroa's tolerance of fluvalinate.
