this is more of a curiosity question then anything else, but i just HAD to ask.
i know that "api life var" contains the same three active ingredients as listerine, but has anybody actually TRIED listerine as a treatment?
what would make one more effective then the other?

Listerine acutally has several active ingredients but Thymol is the most distinctive, and probably the most effective one. It also has eucalyptus and a few other things.
The amount of thymol in Listerine is very small. You can buy Thymol crystals and put them in a tray in a hive and they are, by all accounts I've heard, effective, but that's pure 100% thymol.
The FGMO with thymol is back to a small amount, but that is fogged into the hive so every bit of the hive gets touched by it. I doubt the Listerine has enough thymol to be effective against mites.

i guess i was curious because i've seen all three (eucalypol, menthol, and thymol) all used as treatments for mites, and it's all diluted in alcohol (which is one of the ways dr. r recomended diluting thymol).
i just wonder if it would work and how much someone would have to use. sounds like "api life var" is just a SUPER listerine!

this is off the top of my head, but I think listerine is .06% thymol and apilife var is like 75% thymol
