Started a little late, 3 weeks ago, both hives look good. Got my bees and queens from a reputable Apiary. It's closing in on the first of summer and I want to know if I need to medicate my bees with anything now for varoa mites, wax moths, or other critters? Or will they be OK until fall?

Not sure where your at but I'm in the central part of Alabama.Watch out for the small hive beetles.4 new hives on new equipment and all 4 have beetles in them.So far I have used the ground drench guard star,I have check-mite on order and small beetle traps on order.Bees are booming but don't want to take a chance.
Good luck and mine were hived 4-23-2005.
We are hearing high mite counts from many places. I would keep track of them and plan on using something other than either cumophos or apistan. As to beetles, One of our suppliers in the south lost over 1000 mating nucs to beetles and had no impact from cumphos stips. Most suppliers have applied all other necessary treatments before the bees are shipped. Have a great season, stay vigilant.
