I'm just trying to get an idea before pumping several different techniques or chemicals into my new hive.
I've heard that something as simple as Powered Sugar can seriously reduce, control or even rid a hive of the Varroa Mite problem. Is this true?
I understand put the sugar in a bottle of can with small holes in the cover and shake it so you get more of a dust cloud than clumps of sugar on the bees. "Dust" the entire colonly and it clogs the poors or something of the mite and they die or fall off and exit the hive.... is this true?
If this works, what is the best way to do it? Simply take off the telescoping cover, then the inner cover and dust the hive or should I tale out each frame and dust each frame one at a time on both sides?
Thanks again to everyone.
PS: Sorry about all the questions, but I'm new and this is kind of freaking me out. Loosing my first hive in the first year would be a serious setback.
