If you were to get any speaker you wanted...for your spring beekeepers meeting, who would it be. How about top 5.

I have heard Dr Conner and Dr Caron speak. Both have a very good program. I think I enjoyed Dr Conner more since I was interested in queen rearing.

Some one I am also hoping to see some day is James Tew. His articles are very good.

I'd kinda like to see:
Steve Taber
Walt Wright
Fat Beeman
Michael Bush
Jim Fischer

speaking in that order, with time for Bush-Fischer to go into overtime if need be . . .

Our Bee Club Seems to be struggling:
My question is who is available to speak in our area? Does anyone have a list of speakers that would be willing to speak?

My location is in the edge of the Piedmont in SC.- 70 miles from Columbia SC and 35 miles from Augusta GA.

I bet you could get a few folks from NC, such
as Bob Cole, who could speak on any subject
you'd care to name.

Bob has forgotten more about bees than most of
the rest of us ever will learn.

From the Backyard Beekeepers ASSN (CT)

January 30: Walter Wright: Nectar Management
February 27: David Blocher: Colony Manipulation for Honey Production
March 27: Larry Connor: Increase Essentials
April 24: Dewey Caron: Africanized Honey Bees
May 29: Howland Blackiston: Jepoarbee!
June 26 Annual Pot Luck Supper & Silent Auction
September 25: Steve Buchmann: Other Bees, Other Pollinators
October 30: Gregg Hunt: Honey Bee Genome
November 27: Bohdana Puzyk: Psyzanky Ukrainian Egg Painting,

Jim Tew would be my all-time favorite speaker. He's funny and hardly any one falls asleep. Dana Stahlman (Ohio Beeks)may not be doing a lot of travelling but he knows queens like no-one else. Dewey Caron is well organized and well heard. I'd actually like to see Jim Fischer organize a topic and present it. He WILL talk to you about a bee-lining workshop.

You guys seem to assume that there is some big
disagreement 'tween Mikey and I. There isn't.

Mike posts an average of 15 things a day, 365
days a year here on BeeSource, and an average
of another 4 a day (again, 365 days a year) over
on the "BeeMaster" forums. I can't be bothered
to go look at the various other online groups,
but there's much more out there. Michael is... a
very prolific poster to online groups. At
a mere 5 mins per post, thats 1.5 hours per day,
every day. One is forced to wonder how he finds
the time to keep bees. smile.gif

I post slightly over 1 post per day on average
while waiting for coffee makers, airplanes,
subways, females applying makeup and such, so
even if 100% of my posts (a complete exaggeration)
disagreed with Mike or resulted in Mike becoming
disagreeable, this means that Mike and I agree
(or don't bother to voice disagreement) 94% of the
time. If even half of my posts conflicted with
Mike's (another very high estimate), this would
imply 97% agreement. That's not bad at all for two
randomly-selected beekeepers, now is it?

Some may get the impression that I am too hard
on poor Mike at times. I actually use considerable
restraint. Here's a snippet (http://listserv.albany.edu:8080/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0702d&L=bee-l&T=0&P=4490) from the hidebound
and massively over-moderated "Bee-L" list, which
works very hard to cover itself with the apperance
of ivy and tradition:

Hapless Victim: Maybe you could check the definition of "troll" next time...

Evil Me: I did, and you really should provide them with a better photo!

Golly, how'd that slip by the moderators?
Maybe 'cause they thought it was a funny line.

So sorry guys, I'm not gonna "fight" with anyone
to entertain you, as it wouldn't be a fair fight
if I did, and there really isn't all that much to
"debate".

Dick, I've moved base camp to NYC now, so I can
pop up to CT any old time.

And if you're worried about radioactive fallout
or something if I did speak to the BYBA, here's a very
toned down presentation I did as a part of the
"Distinguished Lecture Series" for the State Park
system in Virginia about pollinators and environmental
stewardship. (It is in Flash, and it advances
the side when the voice over is done for each slide.)

Then we'll just have to tie one of Michael's "hands" behind his back. smile.gif

Restraint is so much easier with visions of nectar laden flowers than ogres with lawnmowers.
(I might have to use that as a tag line.) smile.gif

I have heard:
Marion Ellis
Dianna Sammataro
Maria Spivak
Keith DeLaplane
Rob Harrison
Sue Cobey
Tom Seeley
And thoroughly enjoyed all of them and would jump at a chance to hear them again and again..

I would like to hear;
Walt Wright
Steve Tabor
Mike Palmer
Dee Lusby
Because I know of their reputations.

But, I would like to hear any of the speakers posted above. We takes what we gets out here.

Believe it or not, Jim and I have not only been in the same room together but had lunch together. There was no fighting involved.
