Hey everybody, I hope you guys had a better season than I did. I was wondering if anybody knew any apiaries that are still shipping packaged bee's to california?
Thanks a lot
Danny

Have you checked with Sacramento Bee Supply?
I'm not sure if they have any available or not still but its worth a try if you haven't.

Hi Danny, I lost my four hives this winter to mites over here outside Watsonville. So I'm sorry to hear you've had a bad season too.
The telephone number of Sacto Bee Supply is (916) 451-2337. I got packages from them last week. They're not cheap at $75/package with Italian queens. They tend to do them every other week as long as they can get them. I don't know if Taber does packages, but he is located closer to you in Vacaville I think. He advertises in Bee Culture.
The swarms are coming in fast and furious over the hills from you here in Watsonville/Santa Cruz county. I got a pretty big swarm last Monday and another nice one today. A friend of mine in Santa Cruz has had several calls too. Have you registered with the Gilroy police, Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's dept. and Humane Society? Swarms are a lot cheaper than packages.

I called sacramento bee company about a week ago and since they remembered me they said they will give me a call if someone cancels there order. LOL I would love to do swarms on tree's, but a lot of the swarms I find that ppl need help with are ones under the house or in a wall, stuff that has some legal stuff tied to it. I first got into beekeeping through a swarm that one of my farm hands pointed me to. So he helped me catch it and at the time, I had this huge wood box, so what I did was grab some boards and made some ghetto frames and installed them into that hive. At the time I didnt know of the lang hive nor did I think I was gonna be as interested as I am now into beekeeping so it would be pretty hard to make splits with that hive. hmmm maybe feral hives are stronger? ive had that colony now for 4 years almost and absolutely no problems at all.
well if you guys hear of anybody with packaged bee's, plz let me know.
thx a lot
Danny
