Hello all,
I have a bee infestation in a masonary wall
and would like to remove them, without killing
the hive. Is there any way to extract the
bees or entice them to move to a new home
wihout harming them? Thanks.

PS: Always wanted to start and maintain
a bee hive, but not in the wall of my home!

I've never considered bees an infestation...

Your best bet is to find a local beekeeper who wants to do this. It is a lot of work and requires a lot of trips to do it without harming the house. If you just kill the bees (which I know you don't wish to do) you will have a mess of honey in the wall that will melt and run somewhere. A cone extraction where the bees are trapped out and then used to rob out the honey is the best, if it works. Sometimes it's impossible to close all the exits to do this and you have to tear out a wall.

Try contacting the county agriculture extension agent and see if they keep a list of beekeepers or have contact info for a local bee club.

I would expect to have to pay to have them removed considering the work involved. One can easily burn up $100 in gas to do a removal of this kind and one can buy a package of bees for $60.
