We had a killing frost last night, about 2 weeks early. We had been hoping for a fall flow on golden rod, but we're still 12 inches down on rainfall for the year (35%) and 4 inches down for the month (100%). Essentially, no flow at all for the year. Spring was quite dry and the flow was minimal. I've been feeding, but will have to step it up for the remainder of indian summer, if any. It should be in the 70's here again this afternoon. Worst case is a mild winter with no forage and no stores, and that's typical here.
