Hi Guys,

If you've read about my checker boarding test, you know that I've got some hives that are ready to swarm. And it's that time of year to raise a few queens. So I took one of the hives and installed a Cloake board.

Those manipulations through closing and opening the slide effectively put an end to the swarming impulse. I assume that the manipulations of a Snellgrove board have the same effect. I don't know much about it though.

Regards
Dennis

Dennis,
So you simply followed standard Cloake process for queen rearing and it also helped the swarming without any specific timing, etc??

Here's the best description of Snellgrove I've found so far:

Snellgrove has a book published “ Swarming it’s control and prevention” I got my copy form BetterBee.com it has many different methods for using the snellgrove board. I have used it on hives that were probably within hours of swarming and had good luck in preventing them form swarming. I have found the snellgrove board useful in re-queening also.
Your description of a Cloake board sound similar to the Snellgrove board.
