The zipper has failed me with the Golden Beesuit. I was thinking about the Glory Bee brazilian mesh beesuit as a back up suit. Has anyone ever puchased one, and how do you like it. Is it cool to wear, it was 95-degrees hear today? The temperature hear is cooling down since fall is so near.

The zipper on the Golden Bee products Suit? Mine has the most heavy duty zipper I've ever seen on it. Solid brass and the size of a small model railroad track. Hard to imagine it failing. Considering the price and worth of a Golden Bee products suite, I'd find a seamstress to put a new zipper in. I've never had the Gory Bee one.

As one who recently went through zipper problems on a South American import sold here in the for sale section I will second Michael B's, and Hawks suggestion.

I had the imported, broken crap removed and a nice brass YKK installed. The "little old local lady" sewed two 20" YKK's for $26. That included sewing in velcro on the side pockets.

In short........ steer clear of imports.

Another suggestion from the board was to use beeswax as a lubricant on zippers. Great suggestion, it works great!

Must have been a beekeeper thought of that. smile.gif

I think my first move would be to tell Golden Bee what happened. As a supplier, I just love people that tell everyone in the world but me that they had a problem with my merchandise. Golden Bee is NOT a fly-by-night. Give them a chance.

iddee...... Me thinks you jumped in without reading carefully. ;)

I never thought anyone was "dissing" the Golden Bee Suit. Quite the opposite. He was told to repair it.

We have no idea how much use the suit has seen. Any zipper will fail after long, hard use.

Now if the Golden Bee's zipper failed in less than a year, or was lightly used, by all means let the company know.

I will tell you that the Jacket I got made in Argentina had 2 of 3 zippers fail in light use and the jacket was only a 2 months old.

Yes, I followed your thread, and like I suggested, you contacted the supplier first. I'm sorry if I sounded like I thought you were "dissing" them. I only meant that a supplier should always be contacted first. If for no other reason, to let him know how his product is holding up. I have refused to warranty in 90 days, I have warrenteed at over 2 years. I'm just saying you should give the company a chance, and the feedback needed to maintain or improve quality. I did not think anyone was putting Golden Bee down.

My misunderstanding I think iddee.

I thought you were refering to the Golden Bee suit. I agree that it always makes sense to contact the maker/seller first. I try to to do that myself. But if a item is used hard, sometimes it can't be attributed to the maker in anyway.

When I got my second one after 1 1/2 years, the lady seemed suprised that I was ordering again so soon. Mine gets heavy use and has to be laundered often because of doing so many cut-outs, and waxing the zippers is just common practice.

I was asking about puting the hood in the washer and was told that the newer type screen is just fine in the washer. They are making small changes in an ongoing basis. As I understand, they used to use smaller zippers, a wire veil, and had less cloth protection on the front on the older models. I could not imagine having those large zippers fail, but as someone says, everything can fail if you let it smile.gif

I have noticed that the velcro is getting a little weak on the old suit. And why the velcro around the wrists wraps in the opposite direction from the old suit I don't understand, no big deal, just different.

You're right about not contributing it to the maker, but look at bullseye's post.
"They are making small changes in an ongoing basis."

That is because people are giving them feedback. Wheather good or bad news, feedback to a company is good.
Hey, Bruce, don't faint. We agree on something. smile.gif

The Golden Bee suit is wonderful, my suit had a small brass zipper, and it failed. The suit is going through it's third season. I bought a zipper at wally world, and am having a seamstress install it. I need it ready for tomorrow. I have been feeding 2/1 syrup with HBH made from the forum recipes. One hive was not taking the syrup fast enough, and i think robbing has started, since the others have run out. I need to just get back into the game with those hot and cranky girls.
