Since last sunday I have heard about 6 cases of AFB occuring in Commercial, Sideline and Hobby outfits, here in St. Lawrence County, NY.

The Apiary Inspection Program was supposed to start two weeks ago. But, so far, no one has been hired. Some people have been told that there is a job. But no one is confirming a starting date.

I called Human Resources to find out what they were looking for in potential inspectors. The person responsible for hiring these people didn't seem to know much about what I had to ask her about. I'm under the impression that this isn't her fault because this seems to be of low priority. That's the impression that I get.

So, like I've asked in the past, what kind of Inspection Program are we going to have here in NY? What kind of program do we need and want? Who is going to see that we get it?

With all of the work that I have done, over the last six months, trying to get people to do something, it doesn't seem like there is much real concern amongst NYS Beekeepers. I womder how many have written or called the Commissioner Of Ag or their State Legislators? Anybody?

Hi Mark,
I am brand new to beekeeping and don't have enough understanding about the inspection program question yet. Where's a good place to find out more about it?
