did you ever wonder if you could take pollen from the hive and use it to pollinate plants lets say a year later? any thoughts??

Bees mix pollen with honey as they collect it. This prevents most of the pollen from being able to fertilize flowers.
Pollen loses viability rather quickly. Hot and dry conditions in particular kill it pretty fast. If properly stored in a refrigerator, fresh collected pollen can be stored for days, weeks, or even months in some cases. This is for hand collected pollen, not pollen as collected by bees.

Craig, you just convinced me to buy a couple of pollen traps for this year. Bummer....every year I seem to "need" more and more stuff. Ahh but its my hobby. :D
