Well the hot room is framed and insulated.

It is 14 ft X 9 1/2 ft deep and has a
12 wide X 8 high insulated garage door
that opens to the interior of the honey
house. The ceiling is 10 ft 6 inches high.

Walls are 6" with 6" insulation.

My question is this.

I plan on heating with off peak electric
with a circulating fan. I would also like
to be able to cool this room down to 36 F
or so.

My only thought is a couple of window mounted
A/C units mounted through the wall. Do you think
this would be ample to bring a well insulated
room down to 36 F????

I need the "cooler" so the room can also serve
as a meat shop for a couple weeks and for
apple storage.

Bruce,

I'm no HVAC guru but I think a room AC can only achieve a certain temperature difference between the inside and outside temp and I don't think it will do what you're suggesting
I have a friend who does HVAC stuff, I'll shoot him an email and find out

Thanks Dave. If I absolutely need some
sort of refrigeration compressor set
then I'd have time to shop for a good
used one over the winter.

I work mostly with heating units, AC units will only maintain an inside/outside temp difference of 10 to 15 degrees. to get the 36F you want you will have to get a refrigeration unit.

Check out your local auto salvage yards. A refrigerated truck bed, IE: ice cream, produce truck, sells for nearly nothing. A local guy here has tried to give one away for the last few years and cannot get anyone to haul it off. And yes, the reefer still works.
