I got an arc welder and a happy time with my family.
I awoke this morning and shared a cup of coffee with my wife (who after 16 yrs. I am still hopelessly in love with) and helped hang some candy canes on the biggest most beautiful Christmas tree we've ever had. My 14 yr old son Brian lumbered out and wished us a Merry Christmas and we opened our presents, which really were not many for any this year for no other reason that we are very content. As I called my 2 daughters and theirs in Florida and another dauther and hers' in Arizona we laughed and relived many Christmas's past. My oldest son, who lives in town called and we arranged to pick him up for the short trip to my inlaws (both in their 80's) for dinner. He greeted us at his place with a huge smile and a heartfelt Merry Christmas. After a wonderful day eating and laughing we talked to our niece in Florida who was so serioulsy injured being run down by an SUV this last January. She was laying on the beach, still broken, but laughing on this day. On the drive home I thought of all the Christmas's over the years, some photographed, some not. I realized that this holiday had become a guide post of where we, and where everyone we loved and cared about were and how they were doing. I realized that every tree was the biggest and most beautiful in it's year and how I wished we could all be together again for a Christmas. I also realized it may never happen but I'm going to see what I can do.
Life seems to go by in a blink, how blessed we are, over the other creatures of the earth, to have a guidepost like this that allows us to live a thousand happy memories in one day, take stock in those we love go head long into a new year! Been a great year with all of you too who were worth a part of this day.
Merry Christmas All
