I was standing on my balcony today and I saw a very curious looking bee.... It had the shape and design of what I would call a bumble bee. Fat hairy body. THe kicker is the coloring was all wrong. I thought maybe I was seeing something wrong so I blinked. The color of a normal Bumble bees that I see here in seattle are Normally a black and yellow color but this bee was a soft Fluorescent green color. I am probally crazy but if not can someone explain to me what this bee is ?????

thank you for reading this post and responding if you have an idea what I was looking at. IF it helps this bee was hovering around a tree appearing to eat afids from the leaves

thanks
Chris

Just maybe it was covered with a green pollen.

Yes I am positive it was not a fly.. as I am positive it was not covered in green pollen. In fact I am positive that the bee was activly seeking out and eating afids from the leaves of the tree that stands 2 feet away from my balcony.

I don't know of any bees that eat aphids. Bees eat nectar and pollen. Bees do suck the honeydew off of some kinds of aphids. Where are you located?
