I went into the hive today, and moved the feeder from the outside, to the center to where the bees are. I then had second thoughts later. Was this a good idea, winter will be comming again in a couple of weeks?

No.

If you put it at the edge of the cluster it's no big deal but it will still make it hard for them to get to any stores on the other side of the feeder. If you split the cluster up thats a bad thing but if it's not that cold, they'll just move to one side or the other. I'd leave it at the edge of the hive, not in the middle. They will use it when they feel the need.
