I woke up saturday morning at 5;30 to go to work.i put on the outside light and there were about 100-150 bees swarming around the light and window above the door. i thought they were moths until i looked closer.i woke the wife up to check this out.we aggreed she would call the exterminator later that day.Anyways i called her later that day and she said the bees were gone. She said she got on a ladder inside the house and started tapping on the window, some of the bees left.she went about some things and came back and some more were gone.so she tapped again and after like 3times all the bees were gone.anybody know what caused this?? will they come back?? There is no nest above the door.just a window and a light(which is secured to the siding rather nicely with caulk around it)and there are no holes in siding.I appreciate your input--thanks

I've seen this before,But not often.
I think & this is just my thougt that some times the field bees get caught out at dark & perhaps become lost, then they are drawn in by the lite's inside the house or outdoor lite.
Once daylight comes they find their way back to the hive.
As I've said I've never seen any proof of it.
I don't think they will come back,I've never seen a bee looking for a new home at dark.>>>>MARK

You most likly have a hive close to your home. if the worker bees can't make it back befor dark they get as close as they can. If you have a porch light on it will draw them in. At different times of the year it may get worse due to the fact that flowers will put out nector at different times of the day. Check the trees around your home (on the side with the light) and check you home too.
