ok, I'm a first year beekeeper and have 6 hives, im only going to ask about fall managemant of 2 of the 6 hives, the other 4 are were i want them, the 2 hives are a deep and a medium for brood and 1 of the hives has 2 medium supers and the other has 1 medium super, I extracted the supers this year and put them back on the hive so the bee's would clean them, I would like to get some goldenrod honey this fall to try, but I dont want the bee's to fill the supers up only ( and not store some for winter) because i would like to remove the supers and store them for winter, should i remove the supers now and just let them store for winter and maybe just take a single frame to try, I want to winter these hives in a deep and a medium. how shouldn I work this? any help would be appreciated!!!

I would leave the supers for the fall flow. I've never seen too much fall honey as a problem. You can either leave it on them for the winter, or extract as much as you want and leave the rest. There is nothing that says you can't leave an extra box or two of honey for the winter. You will likely get an earlier spring build up.

I always try to leave empty supers on up until a killing frost. The bees will backfill the brood nest to prepare for fall anyway. Some years you get a bumper crop with the fall flow.

There is still a lot of honey potential left in the year, I do my last extraction the end of August or the first week of September. Depending in how the weather looks, the bees still have ample opportunity to get ready for winter. I leave from 70 to 90 lbs for them. In Georgia less would work.

leave the supers on and if it looks like the goldenrod will run short then you can always feed.I usually feed pollen patties and sugar syrup just to be safe anyways.

The goldenrod flow here looks to be very good this year. I would leave the supers on and let them fill them, they will run out of room in the supers soon enough, and backfill the broodnest.
