Read a couple posts where they mentioned the "mesh" suits. Can't find a picture of them anywhere. Down here in Texas the temp is running in the upper 90's with humidity levels above 70%. Hot! Hot! Hot!

Where can I see a pic and where is the best place to order one?

Thanks
Scott

I am only aware of Glory Bee and Golden Bee mesh suits.

Of the 2 I think Glory Bee is cheaper. I could be wrong so check it out.

If there are more makers of mesh suits........ Please share.

I wear a bug baffle from Mid-con agri. I THINK it cost $65.

I don't think I could stand a full suit in August and I don't even live in Texas!

Terri........ How does it do?? Isn't the Bug Baffle a single layer of net?

I use my bug bafflers as much as I use my Golden Bee Suit, sometimes more. The baffler is great for simple things when and where you are not going to rile them up or for simple swarm catches. It is much better to have something light around your head than being concerned about the bees inside the ear.

I bought my first one from Mid Con for $35 about five years ago. I since got another for Lookie Lou's and newbees who want to watch what I am doing, like insurance, it's piece of mind. I don't want onlookers to blame me for letting them get close enough to get stung. My second one I got from Cabella's, Gander Mountain, or US General for about $25. with shipping.

When you get a hole in the Baffler a little piece of duct tape will seal it up, or you can use some nail polish like ladies will with their hose.

You can see a picture of the Golden Bee suit on my site. The GBS will cost you around $200. In August I wear nothing but underwear with my GBS. (I know, too much info), but it's as cool as you can get and still be armored up. Just right for collecting rent from the girls.

What kind of material are these mesh suits made from? They look like nylon or something which is pretty dang hot, even as a mesh.

Hot? Not like a bee suit would be (I think, I have never worn a bee suit).

It does not "breath" quite as well as a veil, but it is no hotter than wearing long sleeves.

I like it because I can go to the bee yard in a light summer shirt, then put the bug baffle on just before I open the hive.

The protection is not 100%, but it is pretty baggy and will protect MOST of yout upper half! They could only sting where the fabric touches your skin, and it mostly does not TOUCH your skin. And, it should certainly keep the bees out of your eyes and ears.

When I picked up the packages this spring, I noticed that the mid-con employees were ALL wearing bug baffles. That told me a lot about comfort vs. protection on a hot day. I like mine because

I overheat at the blink of an eye. I always have, ever since I was a kid. Wearing a bug baffle is almost as cool as wearing just a veil, and it offers more protection. Between hives I unzip the top and sit down to rest (I am not very physical), and that also helps me to cool down.

I use just the jacket: I think that the pants would tend to snag when I sit down. I got this from the bee supplies at www.mid-conagri.com (http://www.mid-conagri.com) and in the picture that is given, I wear the item to the right.
