One of the 5-frame-mostly-mediums Nucs I started a month ago is just about ready to upgrade it's digs.
Can anyone think of a compelling reason to add a second 5-frame super to the nuc rather than just moving them into a standard 10-frame medium hive? I'm inclined to move them into a hive and free up the nuc.

I would move them to a 10 frame single. It's the same cubic inch practically. I sure can't think of a reason not to.

I have a couple of second stories for my deep nucs to use in an emergency (no time ect ect) and have used them for a few days while I am away from home and the nuc isnt realy strong enough to move when I leave but am afraid that they may swarm before I return, but if I don`t use them I can always put a bottom on them and have nre nucs.
A two story deep nuc is a little tippy too so they need to bee where they wont blow over.

It really doesn't matter. Either will work. I've had five frame medium boxes stacked five high before but wind would be a worry.

They will usally build the combs better if you have foundation to draw out if you put another on top of the 5 frame nuc
