Hi, Two of my hives died out last fall, they each still had a supper full of honey. Is there any way to salvage the honey?. If so what is the best way. [or any way] ? Thank you for any help. Bill

Depending on the chemicals you've used you can either harvest it, or leave it in the frames and give it to other hives in the spring. I assume a "super" is clean honey. I'd just extract it or, if you don't have an extractor, you can crush and strain.

would one ever need to rule out foul brood prior to using such honey? forigve me if this is a dumb question, I am still learning

Sure. You always want to rule out foulbrood. But usually over winter it's the cold, the mites or just bad luck or bad choices by the bees that seems to kill them. But it's always worth a look for scale and/or sunken cappings with liquid brood that "ropes".
