I've left my honey supers on a little long this year as i've been busy and couldn't really make it to take them off.. My bee's are located here in Toronto, Ontario (Canada).. When I was at the betterbee conference earlier this year, the Mite Away II people did a demo on their product. I was quite impressed and think I should use this instead of the aspitan strips i've been using in the past. They also said it should and could be done when there is no honey flow. Well, it's mid october now and there isn't any flow anymore, is now a good time to proceed, or is it getting a little late?

Hum.. I was just reading their site and they suggest +10c temps for application.. So I guess I missed it this year, i'll have to wait till the spring I guess with this.. Mind you they has this technique for lower temps:

Late fall, winter: post feeding, brood rearing minimal (<1/2 frame of brood): Outside temperatures should be above 4ºC at the time of application. For temperature highs below 15ºC, cut a single slit across the centre of the plastic perforated pouch on the side without holes when applying the Mite-Away II™ pad in the hive. This slit, which should face upward after the pad is applied in the hive, allows the release of formic acid from the pad in the cooler, shorter daylight conditions. Do not cut a slit if temperature highs are above 15ºC.

So, any suggestions? Shall I proceed or not..?

This time of year I'd do oxalic acid instead. It's not temperature dependant.
