View Full Version : rattlers and bees
Had to destroy an Arizona Black Rattle Snake the other day-simply couldn't tolerate the threat to people and domestic animals.
Fella down the road told me to be sure and burry the head--well of course to prevent anyone getting poked by a fang.
No he said---if bees eat the meat and get the venom---then their sting will be just like a snake bite.
Am I the only one who's never heard this before?
What can anyone here add to this?

And the hoop snake forms a circle, rolls down the hill, and stings a tree with his tail. The tree then dies.
The milk snake steals all the milk from a cow's udder.
Any snake will hypnotize it's prey, so it cannot escape.
Yep, all true. Want to buy some Arkansas ocean front property? I just happen to have some for sale.
Actuallly, snake venom can be drank by a human with no ill effects, if they have notooth decay, ulcers or other open areas to the blood system.

So how many rats and mice will you have now that you have eliminated their enemy?
Do you use mouse guards? Better get some if you don't. ;)

If it were not a venomus serpent I'd have probably let it go also, since it was I probably would have put it's trip off also. Bout as easy to install mouseguards as it is to worry over a snake. alot easier than getting bit.
As soon as I master these Honeybees, I'm gonna buy some of that oceanfront property and raise me a hive or two of rattlers, maybe they don't get mites as bad.
Thnx for the comments. Wer've lots of snakes in the hills--this one was btwn the people door and the dog door out on the porch. Bull Snakes are great mousers and don't pose a threat to us.
The skin didn't stay black--it turned brown and the yellow arcs on its back went tan. I've eaten rattler w/out becoming a venom carrier. So the old guy might think flies come from manure piles too.

As an owner of some of that ocean front property, I say watch out for the copperheads. The non-poisones are cool to watch as we watch the sunset over the Arkansas Ocean.
(My wife says we sit right on top of it)
