Hello.
I am moving to Maine next week. I have in my basement one of my hives that died over the winter and was not able to get new bees for it.
I cut out the old brood combs from one deep in the anticipation of starting a new colony on small cell. The other deep has five frames of capped honey. I also have four fully drawn and empty supers.
I was wondering if the wax would melt in the moving van if the outdoor temps are in the upper 70's to low 80's. I don't really want to try to put them in my car. We are vacating our current home on the 13th and moving into the new one on the 15th so it will be in the truck for 48 hours.
Thanks for any info.

Most commercial beekeepers store their empty supers in van body trailers. We never have had any problems although the supers on the top on the stack get hot but never melt. It is awfully hot in their in the summertime.

the wax will melt if it gets 140+ degrees.

Hi Luke- I can't imagine those temps would affect the drawn comb- it gets hotter than that in a hive!

Where in Maine you moving to?
