OK. I just finished building a honey warmer out of an old refrigerator and a couple of light bulbs. The thermostat I bought will cycle within 3-4 degrees.(F)This from the plans on this site. My question is: How warm for how long. I think I know that 140 is tops and that 120 has been used. Does anyone have any experience in leaving it at 100 for a longer time. I really want to baby my honey and I'm not in a hurry.

Thanks,

Dickm

In a refrigerator, I think you could do it at 100 degrees. We do it at 120 but I have some heat loss out of the insulated box we use. the actual temp of the honey is about 110 when we pump it out of the barrels. If you want to retard granulation, further heat will be required.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I want to ungranulate some. (If that's a word)

Maybe. Maybe it's "degranulate"? Usually it's easier to just say liquify. http://www.beesource.com/ubb/smile.gif
