Not sure, maybe you could look up info on its MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) that should be available from the maker. Or email the maker and ask them a direct question. If you get a response from them I would guess that they would err of the side of safety because of the liability

How much you talking about? Can it be moved to alleviate any concerns? How about putting it in a couple zip-lock bags?
The stuff comes in a cardboard box and is not even in plastic or a sealed container. That tells me its probably safe unless in direct contact.

BjornBee, doesn't each box come wrapped in plastic? That's how I remember it coming.
Any pesticide should be stored properly. The directions of how to do that should be on the container. People shouldn't live in their pesticide storage containers and visa versa.

Outer wraper is a paper box with a foil pouch inside that which contains the strips. after opening pouch with some strips left over
I just folded the top a few folds then sealed it with tape.

I have gotten the 10 pack in foil. The larger order in the hundreds per pack/box were just in the box. No foil. This was several years ago. Have not used it lately, so maybe its all foil wrapped now.

Has Apistan changed it's packaging since I last used it 5 years ago, I think?
What you describe sounds like the Check Mite Plus packaging.
The 100 strip boxes of Apistan that I last used, and all those before, were a cardboard box wrapped in plastic with ten groups of ten strips still attached to each other.
The Checkmite Plus strips come in a cardboard box with ten packages of ten in a plastic foil like container. The strips are loose and have a white powdery dust on them.
