How far into the cold months do you need to keep PDB on top of drawn supers? I live in Virginia. We've already had a first light frost or two. Do wax moths survive long enough to pillage my supers, if the PBD runs out soon? And along those lines, what's to stop mice from wintering in the supers, and making a mess? Does they dislike the PDB smell too?

As long as wax moths are out and flying around, they are a threat to stored supers. I'd say, until you have your first hard freeze ("killing frost") the wax moths are a potential problem.
Can mice get into stored supers and cause a problem? You bet. As far as I know, PDB doesn't repel mice. I keep my supers stacked one on top another and then put a top cover over the whole stack. They are sitting on a level floor and in an area that I know DOES have mice during the winter but I've never had a problem with them. I suppose that's because they are physically kept out by stacking the supers very straight and no open cracks or space between the supers that would allow them access.

Thanks. I'll keep the PDB going for another month or two. I do have them stacked tightly, so hopefully, there won't be any mice wintering there either. Appreciate the input.
