Greetings,

New to the board, lurked for a while, first time posting...so please forgive me if there's another way to answer this question or somewhere on here I can search for this.

I'm looking to buy a new bee suit with a head net/veil. I want full overalls, a veil that zips on/off, and one that the hat goes INSIDE the head net, if possible.

Been looking around on Dadant's website and found some items. Hard to tell from the photos and description exactly what you're buying. Also confused as to why some are $160 and some are $60 for what seems to be about the same thing.

Suggestions on where to find what I've described, and how to know what it is you're buying?? What terms am I looking for? What makes one outfit worth a hundred bucks more?

Thanks,
Eric

Try this link, I bought my suit from here and from your description it scounds the same as mine.
If you are looking for something sting proof I would do a search on here for the Goldenbee suit, very good suit if you can wait for a few months..
Good luck!

The nylon ones for about $60 are fine and you can wear a baseball cap under the veil. They are OK in a mild climate but they don't breathe at all and it gets real hot in there.I use just the jacket with levi's,gloves and ankle wraps, but it rarely get hotter than 75 here.

I bought pretty much what youre describing this sping, got coveralls, veil, hat, gloves for right around 100$ go to betterbee.com they have an online catalog.Only complaint i have with mine was sometimes if i turned or bent over just right, veil would touch the back of my neck.So i started tucking a small piece of cloth doubled over into the back of my hat to shield back of my neck, havent had any more problem.. Iam sure there are better suits out there for more money, I hear alot of people talking up the golden bee suit, but its about twice the money.good luck, Doug

I much prefer the "English" style hood without the hat. The hat is one more thing to mess with. I use a jacket by far the majority of the time and only use a full suit when I'm doing a removal or dealing with known hot bees. I do have a Golden Bee Products suit (by far the best) and will wear it even though it's a full suit, on a hot day for the ventilation, with nothing on under it but shorts and boots.

I too use a suit without a hat at all, by Sherriff out of England. My only complaint about the stand up material hood is that it has a cloth back on it, not mesh, so if I am trying to back a vehicle I cannot see where I am backing up to!
It was expensive but I didn't have to wait 6 months for it <grin>. I also have a jacket from them, same thing, no hat. It is really light weight cotton, and cool, but the bees don't hardly ever get a stinger through. Comes in colors too for that fashion statement out in the beeyard.
