Is there any rough formula for how many hives per 100 acres of Canola one can set up on??
The neighbor does about 600 acres of canola with in a mile of me.
Thanks

I have no real experience with canola as its not grown much as a crop in my area.Heres a link that might help.
www.albertabeekeepers.org (http://www.albertabeekeepers.org) read ..those yellow flowers ..under the misc section of the articles.
I would think if your planning on making any honey from canola you'd need to see what other nectar sources there are in the area that the bees could use as a build up and also after the canola stops blooming.A 100 acres could produce a huge amount of honey.

I have loads of other honey plants near. 60 acres of alfalfa, as well as loads of wildflowers. There is a few hudred acres of CRP that about 1 1/2 mile as the bee flies, it is loaded with alfalfa as well. A couple hundred acres of flax too.
