An Imirie shim is a wooden rectangle that has the same dimensions as a super but is only 3/4" tall. It fits between supers and has a small notch cut out on one side so it can be used as an extra entrance. Do a search on the Brushy Mtn site and you can find a drawing of one. http://www.beeequipment.com/default.asp

On that site, it states to not use it between comb supers, but to use it between extracting supers. Anyone know why?

Comb honey requires a bit of crowding. With that comes burr comb. With the extra space from the shim, a lot of burr comb.
