I am going on a trip to Iowa with my wife (had to bring her) to Iowa. Not much to see in western NY as far as apiaries or large retail beekeeping stores etc. Does anyoone know of any interesting places i can go near Des Moines Iowa to see anything bee keeping related??

C'mnon, Sundance! Iowa's a great place, and Cz can check the University of Iowa and also Iowa State's web sites for bee-related stuff. American Bee Journal and Bee Culture may list meetings, etc., in Iowa, too. If he checks for museums, he'll find a bunch!

Are you kidding? if you look up "excitement" in the dictionary, there's a big old picture of Iowa!
For example, check out Iowa University - Ranked among the 25 most beautiful campuses in the nation, this university setting includes historic and contemporary buildings and more than 450 art sculptures, including one of a semi nekked woman! Internationally recognized for leadership in science and technology education and research, it is the birthplace of the world's first electronic digital computer (really, it was one of those large keyed clunky calculators by Texas Instruments, but who's keeping score?)-- see a full-size replica and exhibit in the Durham Center. Enjoy rose gardens, a conservatory and butterfly house at Reiman Gardens; see a fine collection of ceramics and random pieces of broken glass portrayed as "art" at the Brunnier Art Museum. The historic Farm House offers a glimpse into the early 19th century life of the university and its first two presidents. Campus information booth on Elwood Drive. Custom tours arranged.
Sounds like your wife lucked into one romantic getaway!

The Science Center in Des Monrs is pretty good. They have an Imax theater. The Botanical Center is my favorite but you only need a couple of hours to take it in. Living History Farm is a big attraction but it is more of a summer outing. We have a 700 colony beekeeping operation but not much to see--a building full of barrels and a couple of trucks.
