Hi, I am new to the forum (been lurking a while, just now started commenting) and since I have begun posting comments, I thought I should let people know who I am.

I have wanted bees for years but do not yet have any. My plan is to have bees next spring. I am hoping, this year, to find a beekeeper near me who will let me assist them so I can get some experience with bees. And of course I plan to read here and everywhere else that I can!

I am in Houston, TX, and I do plan on joining one of the local beekeeper's associations... but I thought I would put the word out here as well.

bayou city???? is that south of houston? right now there is bound to be a quad zillion hives stacked in and about houston. so you should have an endless number of possibilities.

No, Bayou City is the nickname for Houston smile.gif The city is full of bayous. I am inside the Loop and have two bayous within a shouting distance.

buffalo bayou perhaps?

the melipona sezs:

Ouch, randy, why are you punishing me?

tecumseh replies:
no melipoa we are just a couple of hillbillies trying to torment a flat lander.

but back to you situation. it is my understanding that there are a lot of very soggy bee hives in and about houston right now. so if you were looking for a time that every beekeeper in general area might be looking for some help. now is the time.

I am close to White Oak Bayou and to a nameless smaller bayou that dumps into White Oak eventually. smile.gif

Thanks for letting me know, Tecumseh! I will have to jump in on that helping.
