Hello all!

I would like to learn more about the flowers that grow in my region. I would like to know when their nector flow is.

can anyone suggest any reading material??? I went to Barns and Noble tonight and looked at Audobon Society's books on flowers for the western states but that didnt really help.

anyone know of a good book on the subject?

Does Washington have a Dept. of Ag? They might be able to give you some good info. Or find your local beekeepers club.

If you are producing wild flower honey in the Portland/Vancouver area you will have a small flow in April with maples and fruit trees. The flow will taper off through May and then hit the main flow in June and July with Himalaya berries. Times and flowers will vary a little but these are the biggies in this area. If you are working a specific crop times may vary.
For answers to questions about the Vancouver area go to the Oregon Beekeepers Assn Message Board. http://orsba.proboards27.com/index.cgi
There is a Washington Beekeepers Assn at http://www.wasba.org/ but I haven't seen any information there from your area. They may have a message board somewhere but I have not seen it.
