I removed a super of about 90% capped honey this past week, and in checking the rest of the supers they were not hardly capped at all. Lots of honey inside but not capped. About 3 supers left on this one hive that I had hoped to extract. So the question is how long is too long to leave those extra supers on? I have a SHB problem in some of my other hives that I am treating with Checkmite. No treatment in the hive that has the honey surplus. So I am worried if I leave the supers on too long the SHB will infest them. Any advice??

Hey try to take the supers off one at a time, that will put more bees in the supers that are not capped and with luck will keep the beetles down until you can finish.Be warned though,if the shb numbers are large enough in the hive they may stop capping the honey and dwindle in numbers.I have one hive that has been on the rebound since June and are just now starting to increase their numbers(very strong then shb, very weak, being treated with check-mite).
Another option will be to swap the supers to another hive after treatment then treat that one.
good luck!
