I've noticed that a number of beeks use lemongrass oil as an attractant in their swarm traps. My question is; How much do you use, and how often do you put it in your traps?

I’m not sure what lemonweed is, however some trappers use lemongrass oil and sometimes even lemon balm. It does not take much, as to exactly how much to use I’m afraid I couldn’t tell you, as I have never done it my self. The sent is supposedly potent enough that you can bruise lemon grass and use it instead of the oil concentrate. The trick is, is to make the scent linger as long as possible.

One to four drops would be the range I would use. I usually shoot for three drops in the center of the center top bar (if I have frames in the trap).

I'm lazy. I just do it once at the begining of the season when I put them up. It would probably do better if I went back and did it about once a month, I'm guessing.

If I can smell the lemongrass smell, then I would figure it doesn't need refreshing.
