Taking the pipe

I bought one of those glass pipes used to handle and cage queens. Can anyone tell me how it is used? I feel a little dumb.

put the small end into the queen cage. set the large end over the queen on the frame. wait till she starts up the tube. hold finger over large end or insert cork.

The purpose of it is to get a queen into a cage.

A gentle puff of air will pop her right into the cage if she's hesitating half way up. Covering the bottom with your hand tends to make her run to the light too.

That seems like something I could handle. I was trying to blow from the small end. It didn't look big enough to pass a queen.
