Hello all!

I was wondering if anyone is interested in building some hive top feeders both for nucs and regular hives and at a resonable price.

Please let me know. email me at chefif@comcast.net

You may find somebody to do the work in exchange for the saw. The way I see it, only if I get most of materials free I can come close to the Dadant's price, including shipping. I got a saw for other stuff for the house and because I don't want to bug my neighbor with my projects.

Ah, the pleasures of the table saw. I love working with one, though as my father told me once, "The table saw is not your friend." I'm building ports for boardman feeder to the back of my nucs this spring, so robbers would be forced to go all the way through the nuc to the back. Not that that's ever stopped them. This year, I think I won't be releasing the robbers from the traps I built. I'll just put them into the observation hive of death.

I'd love to build them for you. But am afraid shipping might be high. I built some already for myself but need more. Did you want them assembled or KD.

I've gone to open feeding. I made a 'tray' 2 1/2" deep, 2x4' filled it with untreated sawdust (got alot of it) and poured syrup (sugar water) over it. The bees seem to like it and look like miners when working it, digging little pits down to get to the liquid. Tried hive feeders including hive top (which tended to leak) and frame feeders (to many drowned bees and a hassel to fill) [have 10 if any one wants to pay shipping on them].
I also tried the barrel feeder with a float once again to many drowned. I've noticed, so far, very few dead bees in or on the sawdust. So far no apperent harm to the bees. The sawdust is mostly untreated fir and maybe a little cedar.
