Critters in the hive

Does it mean anything bad when you see cockroaches in a hive. I have also seen yellow jackets and wasps but the bees just let them all come and go as they pleased. The roaches bother me the most....and ths is a pretty strong hive!!!

they are pretty much scavanger, look on them as free garbage removal service. have you done spring cleaning on the bottom board? I never see any of the above three critters in a really strong hive with wall to wall bees.

I would be a bit concerned. How many frames of capped brood do you have? Are they angry when you open them up. If the queen is laying good, I would just keep an eye on em and wait and see.

One I don't worry too much about. A lot of roaches usually is a failing hive or one that hasn't really gotten established yet in the spring. They should be able to gaurd it.
