I have a question. One of our beekeepers decided to do an experament by trying different methods of managment when it came to V mites. He used different methods on different hives. Last week, he reported that he had a high mite count.

Some of his managment experaments caused him to open the hives a lot. sooo.... since we all agree that opening the hives cause more stress on the bees....can it be said that more stress will cause an increase in v mites?

This season, starting in about February I began opening most of my colonies nearly every day. I am continuing to do the same. Earlier in the season I was able to find mites on drone brood and on the thoraxes of worker bees. For several months now I have not found any mites on drone brood or worker bees. If spending hours each day being examined can exacerbate Varroa, then I must report where I have done so and it hasn't caused any Varroa problems at all.
