Any Beekeepers on here from northern AR, would like to converse with you about general questions on keeping bees in this area......also im about to take my supers off in the next two weeks, I was told not to put my hives in a room with a fan for a few days to bring down moisture content as hive beetles might invade it. Are the Refractometers from ebay trustworthy? Also what do i do with the honey frames that arent capped, leave them on and hope for a fall crop or pull them and try to dry them?
Thanks
Tony

Hey Tony,
I'm from Mountain Home. Don't worry about the moisture content at ALL if the frames are capped. If they're 80 to 90 percent capped, I also wouldn't worry about the moisture content... but just don't let them set out in this humidity for long. They will suck up moisture if they're not capped, outside of a hive. The uncapped frames will eventually be capped... you can just wait to extract those in October (when it's cool) if you want.
I've already extracted most of my honey for this year, and I've had very few frames that weren't completely capped.
I'm going to move my hives to soybeans here in the next few weeks... out in Walnut Ridge. That's why I extracted early. Otherwise, I would wait til the cool fall.
